Carlos Areces visited this Monday, April 1, the new installment of Martinez and Brothers in Four. An interview framed in the promotion of his series Muertos SL and in which he took the opportunity to reveal one of his most unknown hobbies: it is collector of postmortem photographs.

Carlos Areces launches into ‘Muertos SL’ without a “religious lifeline”: “The comedy I like the most is the most uncomfortable”

The actor, who plays a funeral agent in the new comedy by the Caballero brothers for Movistar Plus+, told Dani Martínez who began collecting photographs of the dead after watching the movie The others by Alejandro Amenábar. “I really liked old photography, I have several collections, and when I saw the film that alluded to post-mortem photography I started to investigate,” he recalled.

Areces explained the origin of this photographic genre: “Since the middle of the 19th century. XIX until the beginning of the s. XX, that photography was something very expensive, it was very normal for people to die without having a single portrait in life. When they died it was very likely that That was the last opportunity to make a portrait of a loved one.”.

But that is not the only collection that the performer and musician talked about during his visit to Cuatro: he also accumulates albums of celebrities involved in singers. “They are famous people for some other reason who can’t resist releasing an album. I have Jesús Vázquez’s albumthe mythical ‘toa’ of Jesulín de Ubrique, that of El Dioni, Bibiana Fernández…”, he revealed.
