Madrid: Supercoach Carlo Ancelotti will not be there to make strategies for the Brazilian national football team. The legendary Italian coach has extended his contract with Spanish club Real Madrid until 2026. There were earlier reports that Angelotti will take over as Brazil’s coach from June 2024.
Ednaldo, the president of the Brazilian Football Association, also announced that he will take over the training duties of the Brazilian team after the contract with Real ends. Angelotti has taken the position that he will stay at the club if Real keep him.
The contract with Royal was till the end of the current season. This has been extended through the 2026 season. Angelotti, who was the coach of the club in the 2013-15 seasons, will join Real again in 2021. He has won ten titles for Real, including two Champions Leagues and one Spanish League. The 64-year-old Angelotti’s name is being heard as the coach of Brazil after the poor performance in the Qatar World Cup.
Currently Fluminense’s head coach Fernando Dinis is in charge of the Brazilian team. There were rumors that the 2024 Copa America tournament would be Angelotti’s first assignment, with Brazil bringing in the supercoach with a view to the 2026 World Cup. With Angelotti extending his contract, Brazil will have to find a new coach. Angelotti has yet to coach a national team in his coaching career. Tite resigned from the coaching position after Brazil were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Qatar World Cup by Croatia.
The Yellow Army is far behind with a poor performance in the South American World Cup qualification round. Angelotti has a good relationship with Brazil’s youth team. He knows Rodrigo, Vinicius Jr., Eder Militao and Neymar first-hand. Also has a close relationship with Casemiro.
