Cáritas serves two thousand families in its two stores in the city and is already working on the creation of a third. Places to which more people at risk of social exclusion have gone over the past year. 60% of those who request help are immigrants. For these, and for all those who need it, the charity will organize until the end of the year 26 training sessions to learn to cook with those products that it distributes.

‘Learn to Cook in Coruña’. An activity that goes beyond dissemination and for which Cáritas has sought support in that “extensive social network” that exists in the city and which has been highlighted by the President of Cáritas in A Coruña, Pilar Farjas. Cooks, poets, singers, politicians or the rector of the University of Coruña (UDC), Julio Abalde, will teach how to prepare different dishes accompanied by some journalists from the city.

This great event It will culminate with a concert by the Galician Symphony Orchestra (OSG) at the Coliseum next winter. The objective is training and job orientation, for which the Violetas center exists in A Coruña. A center to “train” people who do not have access to training that opens the door to the job market.

During this year, Caritas has supported 30% more families, but at the same time it has seen the food supply increase by 300%.
