Reception and care of patients, public quotation, telephone switchboard … Medical secretaries, called medico-administrative assistants (AMA), have many missions, but little time to perform them all. However, this is not the only claim that drives them. All AMAs are supposed to be Category B, but currently new recruits, appointed as Administrative Assistants, do the job of Secretary with Category C status.

Of the 80 medical secretaries, about thirty demonstrated yesterday morning on the pavement in front of the hospital center. The others were assigned by the hospital, but support the movement. The purpose of the demonstration is first of all to stop this sub-categorization within the same position, but mainly to have a salary increase: “We are also thinking about their retirement. One of the girls, she has been in category C for 10 years with a very small salary. She will never reach the salary grid of the possible category in B, so she will not have not really contributed and she is automatically the loser “, explains Céline Voulot, section secretary at the CFDT.

“Put the church back in the middle of the village”

The AMAs wish to set up a competition every year in order to claim professional development, according to Céline Voulot: “We know that it is not easy to set up, but there could be two to three appointments per year. We want a policy of loyalty and construction for the future of young people. Ultimately, it is theirs. retirement which will take. We must put the church back in the middle of the village! “

In addition, from July 1 and like every year, AMAs will no longer be entitled to their new index bonus (NBI) of 10% on their salary, because it is only paid six months in the year: “We find that unfair, we work all year round, why only have this compensation for six months?”, protests Stéphanie Alegri, AMA and coordinator of the medical secretariats.

The issue of medical coordinators is also one of the main demands. Job interviews and grading, the work of the coordinator is the same as that of health executives … by performing both tasks at the same time: “We have the double hat and we are not replaced in our job as secretary”, regrets Stéphanie. “We want dedicated time, we cannot be on two workstations at the same time when we are alone”, continues Céline.

However, the dialogue remains open with management, according to Céline: “We are not in a protest movement. We want things validated over several years.”
