Car Users Complain when Pertamax Prices Rise

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Number of riders car complain about the government’s decision to raise prices Pertamax. According to them, it is quite burdensome.

Ayu for example. 21-year-old Dara, who is currently a student at a campus in Jakarta, who always travels by car, has allocated Rp250,000 per week to refuel her vehicle.

The allocation was before PT Pertamina raised the price of Pertamax starting this Friday (1/4). With the increase that takes effect today, the expenses for the contents of Pertamax will automatically swell. Because of the potential cost overrun, Ayu admitted that she would move to Pertalite, which is cheaper.

“For now, I will completely divert car gasoline to Pertalite, which is more efficient,” Ayu said CNNIndonesia.comFriday (1/4).

He admitted that the increase in gasoline prices was natural for the government to do. The reason is, if not done, it could burden them and Pertamina.

But still he felt it was still burdensome. The reason is, fuel for him now includes his daily needs.

“As a user of private cars and motorbikes, you will definitely feel the difference to fill a motorbike with only a few liters of petrol compared to a car which can reach tens of liters of gasoline,” he said.

Unlike Ayu, Dicky (22) admits that there are no plans to switch to another heart from Pertamax to Pertalite. The reason is, he believes using Pertamax will maintain the performance of his car.

Although he will not move to Pertalite, he is actually worried that other companies such as Shell will follow the price increase of Pertamax.

Understandably, he is a person who often travels by car. Because of this tendency, he had to spend Rp800 thousand per month to buy Pertamax.

“I still find it quite burdensome, especially since the increase is quite significant to the price of Rp. 12,500. That is more than the price of gasoline at Shell, which may increase as well,” said Dicky.

With the current increase in the price of Pertamax, he began to think about ways to reduce fuel consumption.

“Yes, maybe you have to save money by not speeding on the road. Because it consumes gas quickly. Or maybe you won’t leave the house too much, if it’s not really important,” he said.

Previously, PT Pertamina (Persero) announced that it would increase the price of Pertamax fuel oil (BBM) to Rp12,500-Rp13,000 per liter starting today.

The price increase was carried out after considering the surge in the price of Indonesian crude oil (ICP) from US$73.36 per barrel in December 2021 to US$114.55 as of March 24, 2022.
