Capture a komodo dragon in Las Piedras



Authorities captured a komodo dragon at a residence in the Ceiba Sur neighborhood, El Ombligo sector, in Las Piedras at noon today.

This species, which is not native to Puerto Rico and is poisonous, is characterized by being about 10 feet long and weighing over 300 pounds, according to National Geographic.

This animal normally lives in Indonesia and prefers tropical forests.

According to the police report, the komodo dragon was captured by Civil Rescue personnel from Las Piedras and was handed over to the Watchmen Corps of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, who indicated that the animal is in its juvenile stage.
