Noah Green, the assailant on Capitol Hill Building, United States, is reportedly associated with the movement of African-American descent, the Nation of Islam (NOI).
The suspect identified by US media as 25-year-old is from Virginia. Green crashed a blue sedan into two police officers at the checkpoint barricade north of the Capitol Building on Friday (2/4) at around 1:00 p.m.
The incident killed one policeman and injured another officer.
To The Washington Post, the perpetrator said, Green has been a drug user and often experiences paranoia. The family also admitted that they had been worried about Green’s mental condition for a long time.
Two hours before he crashed his car into two police officers on Capitol Hill, Green posted a number of Instagram Stories on an account believed to be his. One of the uploaded stories is a link to the speech of the NOI leader, Louis Farrakhan.
“The US government is black people’s # 1 enemy!” the caption is written in the story containing the video link of the NOI leader on the Green account.
A week earlier, Green had also uploaded content on Instagram and dragged the names of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
In the post, he believed Farrakhan had saved him “from the terrible suffering I may have endured as a result of the CIA and FBI, and US government agencies.”
Quoted CNN, Green graduated from the finance department of Christopher Newport University, Newport News, Virginia, in 2019.
On March 17, Green also made a post on Facebook calling Farrakhan a ‘cure’ for his revival.
“The minister (Farrakhan) is here to save me and all mankind, even if it means facing death. Be prepared to deny yourself and follow it,” Green said in his upload.
The Nation of Islam is a black community organization in America that was founded in 1930. The group is known for teaching the principles and traditional elements of the Islamic religion combined with the idea of black nationalism.
NOI also promotes racial unity and enforces a strict code of conduct among its members.
