French Industry and Press Await the Cannes Film Festival Official Selection
Paris, France – The UGC Normandie theatre in Paris is buzzing with excitement as the highly anticipated Cannes Film Festival prepares to unveil this year’s official selection. Film enthusiasts and industry professionals gather for this prestigious event, eagerly waiting to discover the remarkable films that have been chosen.
Highlights of the Official Selection
Megalopolis, the latest masterpiece from two-time Palme d’Or winner Francis Coppola, will grace the Palais des Festivals with a gala premiere slot on Friday evening, May 17. The film will compete for distinguished awards. Additionally, Kevin Costner will unveil the world premiere of the first part of Horizon: An American Saga. The much-awaited sequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, by George Miller, has also been confirmed for an out-of-competition screening.

Opening with Le Deuxième Acte and Greta Gerwig as Jury President
Quentin Dupieux’s French-language comedy road movie, Le Deuxième Acte (The Second Act), has been selected as the festival opener. The star-studded cast, including Léa Seydoux, Vincent Lindon, Louis Garrel, and Raphaël Quenard, will grace the Croisette on Tuesday, May 14.
Greta Gerwig, the celebrated filmmaker and actress, will preside over the main jury. Following the success of last year’s blockbuster, Barbie, Gerwig will bring her expertise and passion to the festival, shaping the future of the film industry.
