Canine and Feline Sterilization and Anti-Rabies Campaign in Rural Areas of Los Cabos

Los Cabos, Baja California Sur (OEM-Informex).- The first canine and feline sterilization and anti-rabies vaccine campaign began in rural areas.

The activity is carried out thanks to the joint effort of the Los Cabos Municipal Pro-Animal Coordination and the Ministry of Health through Sanitary Jurisdiction Number 4, the first works were carried out in the Caduaño sub-delegation located in the Miraflores delegation.

The foregoing was announced by the municipal coordinator of Pro-Animal Los Cabos, Melissa Castillo Montaño, who reported that there was great participation by citizens in the first day held in the community of Caduaño, receiving a total of 71 pets, of which of which 31 were sterilized and 40 received the anti-rabies vaccine.

“We are happy with the result in the rural area, both the representatives of the Ministry of Health and the area of ​​the General Directorate of Ecology and Environment to which we belong, since we are dealing with a serious problem of overpopulation of dogs and cats in places that had never been visited before,” said Castillo Montaño.

DATES

In relation to the programming of the campaigns, the municipal coordinator of ProAnimal Los Cabos announced that the dates established so far will be: July 13 and 20 in the community of Caduaño; July 27 as well as August 3 and 10 in the Miraflores delegation; August 17, 24 and 31 in the Santiago delegation; September 7, 14 and 21 in the community of Las Cuevas; September 28 as well as October 5 and 12 in the La Ribera delegation.

Continuing on October 19 and 26 and November 2 in the community of El Campamento, to close with the programming dates of November 09, 16 and 23 in the Buena Vista subdelegation.

HEALTH PROBLEM

Juan Carlos Costich, municipal director of Health in Los Cabos recognized that the proliferation of dogs and cats on the streets of the municipality represents a public health problem, it is estimated that there are half a million in Los Cabos alone.

He explained that with the idea of ​​avoiding these numbers from continuing to grow, a sterilization center for canines and cats was built within the facilities of the Vista Hermosa Health Center in San José del Cabo, in addition to these two days a week, there are a mobile unit that has three operating rooms, where around 45 sterilizations are performed per day, working from Monday to Saturday at different points.

Finally, Melissa Castillo invited citizens to spread the word with their neighbors so that they are attentive to the information released by the official Facebook page of the General Directorate of Ecology and Environment of Los Cabos so that they know the exact points of each of the campaigns to be carried out in rural areas.
