In December last year, fans of the internet hit received bad news: the 26-year-old horse has cancer and has to undergo treatment. However, the tumor therapy is working well and the mare feels “super good”, said owner Werner Weischedel on Monday.

The “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (FAZ) had previously reported on it. For about 15 years, Weischedel has been letting his Arabian mare walk alone through the Fechenheim district and along the banks of the Main every day. The gray mare is well known to residents and the police.

Until now, Weischedel drove his mare to a veterinary clinic in Hanover every two weeks to have the tumors treated there. Soon, the individual sessions will probably only be necessary every six to eight weeks, the animal owner explained happily.

The mare is having a hard time driving. “We drive four hours there and four hours back.” However, this does not stop Jenny from going for walks through the town. “Today she left the house at 7.30 a.m.”

The wandering mare is taking part in a study at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover, in which a drug from the United States that has not yet been approved is being tested.

According to Weischedel, Jenny made it into the study thanks to her high profile and is one of 41 horses to receive the tumor therapy.
