Canadian Forward Zack Kassian Joins Hockey Sparta Prague After 700+ NHL Games

Hockey Sparta Prague will be strengthened by Canadian forward Zack Kassian, who has played more than 700 games in the NHL, including the playoffs. The 33-year-old player worked for the Arizona Coyotes last season.

For a long time, Zack Kassian worked as a wing and also a defender of one of the best players today, Connor McDavid, in the Edmonton Oilers.

“He has proven his qualities over many years in the NHL, playing with the best. He is an extremely annoying player, exactly the kind of player every team needs. He has a huge desire to return to the ice and win.” said the head of Sparta’s sports department Tomáš Divíšek.

After six seasons alongside Connor McDavid in Edmonton, the Canadian “tough man” transferred to Arizona last year. But he failed in the Anaheim camp in the summer and said goodbye to his career in the NHL. But that did not mean his definitive end to hockey, and after a short break he is coming to the Czech Extraliga as one of its biggest stars.

“The first moments in Sparta were great. A moment I will remember for a long time. I can’t wait to step on the ice in front of the fans.” said the 2009 draft pick after the first day in Prague.

The junior world champion from 2011 played 661 games in the NHL with a record of 92 goals and 111 assists. He also scored 913 penalty minutes. He added another 45 meetings (6+3) in the playoffs. In addition to Edmonton and Arizona, he also played for the Buffalo Sabers and Vancouver Canucks.
