A police officer was killed in a shooting in the Canadian province of Ontario, near the US border. The local channel CTV News reports it.

The circumstances of the incident are still unclear, but according to CTV News, a total of four people were shot by the same gunman in two different locations.

The first shooting took place in Mississauga shortly after 2:00 pm. Two people were shot dead, including the officer who is said to have died of his injuries. The injured victim was taken to the hospital.

The second shooting took place in Milton, about 20 miles away. Two other people were killed there shortly before 3pm. They would have survived the shooting and been hospitalized with injuries.

Investigators suspect that the shooter himself is behind the facts.

Shortly before 4:30 pm (local time), the province of Ontario issued a warning. Witnesses who spotted a black Jeep Cherokee were asked to alert the emergency services. The driver of this car would be armed and dangerous, it seemed.

Not long after, it became known that the suspect had been located and arrested. The reason for the shooting is not yet known.

Just a week ago Canada was surprised by a series of stabbings that killed ten people and injured eighteen others. One of the authors was found dead. The other perpetrator died after his arrest.
