MATA INDONESIA, JAKARTA – Covid-19 is known not only to target humans, but several positive cases have been found to infect animals. One of the fears is, this virus is carried by mosquitoes to humans.

Can mosquitoes transmit the corona virus to healthy people, after biting a positive patient?

In a recent study published in the journal Scientific Reports, mosquitoes certainly could not transmit Covid-19 to humans.

The study revealed that the virus cannot replicate in three common types of mosquitoes and therefore cannot be transmitted to humans even if the mosquito has bitten an infected person.

“Even under extreme conditions, the SARS-CoV-2 virus cannot be replicated in mosquitoes, so it cannot be transmitted,” wrote the results of the study. Alarabiya, Sunday 19 July 2020.

Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) also stated, mosquitoes cannot transmit corona to humans.

“Our research is the first to provide conclusive data that supports this theory,” said Stephen Higgs, one of the researchers from Kansas State University in the United States.
