Camp Daugava Stories 2023: Strengthening the Connection of Diaspora Children and Young People with Latvia

The camp “Daugava stories 2023” will be held in Ogre from today until August 4, in order to strengthen the connection of diaspora children and young people with Latvia, Ieva Vītoliņa, the representative of the organizers of the event, informed LETA agency.

The camp will be held for the fifth time, and after a break of a few years and camps in Aizkraukle and Dignāj, it will be held again in Ogre.

It is planned that 33 children and young people aged 8 to 14 will participate in the camp, including 26 foreign Latvians from Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Spain, Germany and seven participants recommended and supported by the municipality of Rēzekne region.

During the camp, its participants will live in the Ogre Technical School, young people and children will be able to work in various fields and activities both on site and in the immediate vicinity, as well as in Riga.

The project is implemented by the “Development and Innovation Training Center” association. Its cooperation partners are the Italian and Italian-Swiss Latvian association “ALISI”, the association “Latvian Friends in Athens”, the Spanish association “LeLat”, the Latvian cultural association “Saime” in Stuttgart, Germany. The camp is financially supported by the Society Integration Fund.
