Camille faced inappropriate behavior from a singing teacher at age 14: ‘I was ashamed at first’ | TV

TVOn Monday evening, Camille (21) was the youngest guest ever to visit ‘Het huis’. During her stay, the singer said, among other things, that she once auditioned for “The Voice Kids”, but that no coach turned around. In addition, the “#LikeMe” face also shared that she was 14 when she faced inappropriate behavior from her singing teacher at the time.

“When I was fourteen, I took private singing lessons. Suddenly the rumor emerged that the teacher would have slept with the students”, the singer candidly tells in “Het huis”. In the end, however, it turned out that it was not a gossip. “It didn’t happen to me, but she tried to flirt. “If you come with me, I’ll let you sing on a shop window.” I’ve never been in it,” Camille said.

Feeling of shame

Some time ago, the “#LikeMe” face also ran into her former singing teacher again. “He’s suddenly he’s back to being friendly,” Camille recalls. “I thought: no, I find it a bit dirty. Only then did I tell my parents. At first I was ashamed of it.”

During her stay, Camille also spoke briefly about all the hype around “#LikeMe” creator Bart VO, who has since been convicted of sex crimes. “Nothing ever happened with the main cast,” the 21-year-old singer clarified. “But I understand that abuse of power is a very dirty thing.”

Disappear button

Camille also spoke frankly about the many trials she had to face in her life during her visit to ‘Het huis’. At 14, for example, she participated in the blind auditions of “The Voice Kids”, but she failed to captivate the members of the judging panel, Natalia, Sean Dhondt and Slongs Dievanongs. She sang the song “King” by Years & Years, but not a single chair turned for her. In fact, her audition didn’t even make it to television broadcasts. “Everyone looks at you and then when no one turns around, you really think, ‘oh my god, where’s the disappearing head? I really want to sink into the ground,’” Camille confesses. “It was really humiliating.”

In addition, the health problems of Isabelle, Camille’s mother, are also discussed. When she was twelve, she had to do housework. “Mom had a lot of surgeries after her whiplash and she was in pain all over. Dad had to work, so I had to wash mom, do the shopping and cook.” Three years ago, Isabelle, the singer’s mother, also ended up in a coma after a brain hemorrhage. “I was always calm and always put everyone at ease. But when I left the hospital, I couldn’t keep myself strong.
