Cambre ‘s lawsuit filed against the mayor of Oleiros for denouncing an “urban ball” | Radio Coruña

The Court of Instruction Number 1 of A Coruña has decreed the dismissal of the complaint presented by the Cambre Town Hall against the mayor of Oleiros, Angel Garcia Seoane, whom he accused of slander for denouncing a “Urban hit” in the project in the O Graxal area.

Neighbors Alternative, party of the regidor de Oleiros, has reported on the file of this case through a statement in which it explains that the judge considers that “the denounced facts do not constitute a punishable offense”, because these manifestations fall “within the right to freedom of expression”.

In the same statement, the formation of García Seoane reaffirms itself by describing the project by which the Cambre government – led by Óscar García Patiño (Union x Cambre)– intends to “convert into urban land 25,000 rural meters in O Graxal, which would have a minimum value of 11 million euros.”

In this sense, Alternativa dos Veciños maintains that in Law 2/2016 of Solo de Galicia “the requalification of these lands through obsolete subsidiary norms is not allowed”, but rather “would only be possible” through a modification of the uses of the land of the general urban planning plan (PGOM).

In addition, he adds that “in no case” could it become high-density urban land because it is affected “by environmental regulations, the Highways and Heritage Law.”

For all this, Alternativa dos Veciños warns that actions like these, which “violate the general interest of citizenship”, will be denounced “as many times as necessary” until “stopping the feet of politicians who use public institutions to obtain profit personal”.

Cambre will file an appeal

For its part, the Cambre City Council has issued another statement in which it anticipates that, although it respects the judicial decision “to the maximum”, it plans to file an appeal.

“No one should be able to defame or slander, also lacking evidence to support these very serious accusations and go unpunished,” says the Cambrés government, which in turn affirms that “it will continue to defend its honor” and that of the municipal technicians who, with their firms, “legitimize the change in the subsidiary norms in O Graxal as well as any other project.”
