Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

PDIP politician Adian Napitupulu denied the news that he was offered a ministerial position when called by the President Joko Widodo to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Friday (15/7) morning.

“There is no (an offer as minister or deputy minister). Only the President asks that if there are people’s problems and government programs that don’t work, we can directly contact the relevant ministry,” Adian told reporters. CNNIndonesia.com.

Adian said he did not come alone to the Palace. There were three members of the ’98 National Activists Association.

“Yes (called Jokowi to the Palace), together with the National Association of 98 Activists. Me, Mustar, Pendi, and Musa,” said Adian.

At the meeting, Jokowi talked about the threat of a global recession. According to him, Jokowi stated that Indonesia’s economic condition was much better than other countries.

Adian said Jokowi also mentioned land conflicts in the community. Jokowi asked the ’98 activists to support the government in solving the problem.

“The president also asked us to actively coordinate information related to people’s issues with ministries, including the land ministry/BPN,” he said.

Previously, one ministerial seat in Jokowi’s cabinet was vacant. The position of Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) was vacant after Tjahjo Kumolo’s death in early July.

The position was temporarily handled by the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian. However, Tito’s term as Menpan RB Ad Interim ends today.
