For the parish and collegiate church Seitenstetten the urgent renovation of the church tower is due.
PAGE STETTEN. The Stiftsturm in Seitenstetten urgently needs to be renovated. The defective tower cross was removed last year for safety reasons. After all, the tower helmet, ball and cross date from 1861. “Before the cross can be put back on, the entire tower must be renovated,” said Rev. Laurentius Resch, “the last renovation was in the course of the major renovation of the abbey in 1985.” The costs incurred are estimated at around 500,000 euros. “Hopefully the financing will be available in 2021, then we could tackle this major project in the cooperation of parish, community and monastery with the support of the public sector,” said the side-prior.
Creative fundraisers from Seitenstetten
In any case, the members of the parish council think very creatively when it comes to gaining additional sources of finance: from early morning drinks to a benefit concert to a benefit run, activities are considered. The specially brewed tower beer has already been tasted at the parish café. At the instigation of Franz Halbmayr, it was made at short notice by a beer brewer in the Mühlviertel from organic and regional raw materials, so that it became a tasty, hand-brewed Viennese beer. “The men from Seitenstetten immediately enjoyed it, but it also tastes good to women,” said Rev. Laurentius Resch with delight. By the way: A tasty “Kirchturmpfandl” has also been announced.
