California averages $6 a gallon, more states could soon follow

San Francisco.- California is now the first state to record an average gas price of $6 a gallon, according to data from GasBuddy and AAA.

While California is experiencing the highest gas prices in the country, experts warn more states could soon follow.

JPMorgan analysts told CNN the national average price of gasoline could hit $6 a gallon by the end of the summer.

This comes as drivers continue to hit the road, despite high gas prices. Demand is only expected to increase during the summer.

The other two states with the highest gas prices are Hawaii and Nevada.

Georgia, Kansas and Oklahoma have the lowest gas prices in the country, according to data from GasBuddy. But Oklahoma just crossed the $4 a gallon threshold on Wednesday, according to AAA data.
