Cali will have mass vaccination without appointment for people over 65 this weekend: get to know the nearest megacenter

After rumors that the national government had asked some mayors and governors to reduce the rate of vaccination, some cities even announced dates for the application of massive doses this weekend, such as Cali. The capital of the Valley will have a walk-in session for adults over 65 years of age, that until a week ago could only be vaccinated by appointment, they can start their immunization.

In the midst of a quarantine that began from the first hour of Friday (12:00 am) and that will end this Monday at 5:00 am, Mayor Jorge Iván Ospina invited the people of Cali through his social networks to be part of the day. “Do not think twice, tomorrow we will wait for you at Vaccination Without Barrier, a strategy of the Mayor’s Office of Cali. If you are over 65, come to our Megacentros ”, he announced.

Ospina established that the immunization sessions that have sufficient doses will be carried out as follows: Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24, respectively, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 25, between 8:00 a.m. 00 am and 1:00 am ”.

“It is important that grandparents go to the mega-centers of the Pascual Guerrero stadium, the super shopping centers of La 14 de Calima and Pasoancho, the Nuevo Latir citadel and the María Isabel Urrutia coliseum in the Mariano Ramos neighborhood to get the vaccine, because otherwise their lives and those of their families are at risk, ”said the district president.

In fact, attending to get vaccinated is part of one of the exceptions in the decree that regulates the continuous curfew in the city, in addition to medical personnel over 30 years old. As of April 21, Cali had vaccinated 47,450 adults over 80 years of age, of the 68,766 that are reported, with a coverage close to 70 percent.

“From 65 to 79 years, in first doses (74,314), we have a coverage of 36 percent; while from 65 to 69 there is coverage around 5%, with doses of Sinovac and AstraZeneca, and 42,602 have received the second dose of Sinovac ”, affirmed the Secretary of Health of Cali, Miyerlandi Torres Agredo.

On the other hand, the Universidad Javeriana Cali, located in the south of the city, joined the “Vaccination without Barriers” program and opens its campus for community service as a vaccination point, but for now it will not be part of the this weekend.
