The Gadeokdo New Airport Special Act passed the entire meeting of the National Land Commission. The main purpose of this bill is to facilitate the rapid promotion of the new airport project on Gadeokdo Island by making it possible to exempt preliminary investigations and simplify pre-feasibility studies if necessary.
In the political world, criticism has been raised that it is inappropriate to set a precedent for handling large-scale social overhead capital (SOC) projects under special laws before the election. Currently, there is no accurate estimate of the construction cost of the new airport in Gadeok Island, but there is an expectation that it will cost about 1.7 trillion won.
