How much has been vaccinated where in Baden-Württemberg? Are there differences between town and country? The new website of the Ministry of Health answers all of these questions.
4.5 million people in Baden-Württemberg have been vaccinated against the corona virus once, and almost two million more have already received the second dose. These are the numbers for the whole country.
Strong difference in the vaccination rates of the individual districts
However, if you look at the individual urban and rural districts, the picture looks completely different. Just as the seven-day incidence of Baden-Baden differs massively from that in the Konstanz district, the vaccination rates also differ in the individual districts. According to the ministry, there are districts in which half of the people have already received their first vaccination, and others where this applies to less than a third of the population.
The district of Emmendingen leads the list with a share of first-time vaccinations of 51.2 percent, Pforzheim is at the bottom with 31.5 percent. The proportion of completely vaccinated people is lowest there at 11.7 percent, and the Freiburg district has the highest at 23.9 percent. In the whole of Baden-Württemberg, their share is 17.3 percent (as of June 1).
The list of vaccination rates is updated once a week
Certain “fuzziness” in the recording is inevitable
The responsible head of the Ministry of Health, Uwe Lahl, explains that the resident doctors only have the postcode of the practice available in order to keep the effort as low as possible. Vaccination centers and mobile vaccination teams, on the other hand, record the postcode of the vaccinated person. And many also drive from the country to the city to get vaccinations, where there are more doctors. “However, that alone does not explain the differences between the individual circles,” says Lahl.
The size of the population, the quantities of vaccine available, the question of whether a central vaccination center is located in the city or rural district or the distance to the nearest vaccination center would not provide sufficient explanations. “The vaccination centers work well and effectively everywhere, but they are apparently used more and more by people from neighboring districts in the districts with low vaccination rates,” explains the head of the office.
