“But don’t call me a denier. Conference in the Senate? A mistake ”- Libero Quotidiano

Self-criticism has now become an uncommon custom in politics, especially in times of pandemics. So it makes the news that the only one doing it is Matteo Salvini, who in an interview with SkyTg24 stated that he understood and corrected his position on Covid, defining a “mistake” the conference in the Senate which had caused an uproar because it was very controversial for defined contents “Deniers”. The fact that the Northern League secretary recognized him as such is an important political signal, given that with 700 deaths a day there is little to be a “denier”, even if someone still courageously tries. Precisely regarding this term Salvini kindly asked not to use it anymore, at least when referring to him who had only expressed legitimate doubts but never denied the existence of a very serious pandemic: “Can I ask everyone not to use this term? It reminds us of the death camps, the Jews, the Nazis… So, if you want to make a political controversy, there are many other terms. But talking about denial right now is something that doesn’t do justice to those who do it ”.
