This is what the Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyên Hông Diên said during an interview with the Vietnamese Information Agency (VNA) on the eve of the New Year 2022.

According to Minister Nguyên Hông Diên, free trade agreements (FTAs) such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP), the free trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and Vietnam ( EVFTA), the United Kingdom-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) … of which Vietnam is a party, widely open the door to the country’s export products, become opportunities for Vietnam to connect and participate more deeply in global value chains and production networks.

Coming into force on August 1, 2020, the EVFTA created a breakthrough for Vietnam’s exports by diversifying export markets and products, not to mention positive results in attracting European investments.

In particular, when the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) officially enters into force early next year, it will create a new free trade area with rule of origin and regulations to promote trade. and investment. This will open up a stable and long-term export market for the companies Vietnamese, and create opportunities to attract foreign investment, contributing to the post-pandemic economic recovery.

However, to be able to effectively benefit from the advantages of these agreements, companies must actively seek information and know in depth the commitments of Vietnam and its partners to improve their competitiveness, develop and seize opportunities in the new context, insisted Minister Nguyên. Hông Dien.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, for its part, will focus on the implementation of administrative procedures in the field of import-export, in the mechanism of the national single window and the single window of ASEAN, strengthening market forecasts, business policies and practices, control and handling of contraband cases… to help businesses improve their competitiveness and gain effective access to markets.

The ministry will also pay special attention to controlling the display of commodity prices, combating speculation, hoarding and unreasonable price increases during the holidays or epidemic period – VNA
