The facts have happened Thursday 10 November 2022 reindeer. Within the hour, between 16.00 and 17.00, three attacks took place on the lines C6, C4 et 53. Insults, threats and violent gestures… The UNSA union Keolis Rennes retraces this new series of incidents.
The windshield smashed by a scooter
On line 53, one of the drivers was attacked by a scooter user who boarded his bus. The driver asked the customer to hold him, the latter got angry, got out and then equilibrium his scooter into the windshield, breaking it.
“The driver was not injured but is in shock”, explains the union to Actu Rennes. The bus was immobilized and the police men intervened while the passengers were being transported to another bus.
Insults and threats
Shortly before, two other attacks took place on lines C6 and C4, which did not require the intervention of the police.
In a bus from C6 line, a man who was on the phone on the bus and speaking very loudly made inappropriate comments. “When the driver asks him to speak less loudly, the man gets angry, insult and threatens the driving officer,” explains the union.
Finally, the third incident took place on C4 line. It was an argument with a customer about loading a ticket. The situation escalated and the customer insulted and threatened the driver. “A complaint has been filed for every fact”, confirm the merge
A ras-le-bol that continues
This new round of violence creates a new sense of anger et worry among bus drivers in Rennes.
UNSA today requested an emergency meeting with the management of Keolis Rennes and Rennes Métropole to jointly consider long-term solutions to reduce these increasingly violent attacks.
Monday 31st October finally, a bus driver was scolded by a motorist near Acigné by throwing a handlebar against the driver’s window, which broke. Other more violent attacks were recorded in 2022 in Rennes, such as the shootings last April.
Always acclaimed, the project by a transport brigade is waiting on the driver’s side. “We repeat: it becomes indispensable,” concludes the union.
