‘Bus hangers’ hitch a ride on the Emmen-Ter Apel shuttle line: ‘Look like Indian scenes’

Two men recently climbed onto the back of a Drenthe Tours bus. Images show two unknown men wearing camouflage jackets hanging at the back of the shuttle line for migrants between Emmen and Ter Apel. One of the two men quickly takes the lead and lets go of the bus, while another holds out longer. The incident happened on Boslaan in Emmen, near the main station.

Drenthe Tours is not the client of the shuttle bus line. Transport is via Munckhof transport company. Bas de Smit, spokesperson for that carrier, states that the images are six weeks old. “In the video footage we see someone hanging from a Scandinavian bicycle rack on the back of the bus,” he says.

De Smit confirms that the incident on the video images corresponds to the incident on the photo that RTV Drenthe has in its possession. “They are different images, but it is of the same behavior. It is the same vehicle. What drives such a person? A one-way ticket on this bus costs 5 euros. You can buy the ticket at the security of the asylum center or with your debit card on the bus. “

According to De Smit, Drenthe Tours has decided to take measures in response to these ‘bus hangers’. “The situation is of course very dangerous, the bus drives to Ter Apel without any stops. Nothing is known about the identity of the bus hangers, but De Smit strongly believes that they are migrants. “The situation there is already very tense and something often happens.
