The funeral will take place in Messiah Church in Charlottenlund, a suburb of Copenhagen. The ceremony is led by the parish priest at Brønshøj Church, Mia Lund Rao.
The popular Danish entertainer fell asleep quietly with his family around him on August 27 after a long illness with cancer. In Eddie Skoller’s obituary relatives are encouraged to give money to the Cancer Society instead of flowers. The staff at Rigshospitalet are also thanked.
– He fell asleep quietly, surrounded by his loved ones, Eddie Skoller’s family told the Ritzau news agency.
Eddie Skoller – or Edward Ralf Skoller, which was his birth name – was married to Sissel Kyrkjebø from 1993 to 2004. He has two daughters with the Norwegian artist, Ingrid and Sarah, aged 23 and 27. In total, Skoller leaves behind five children and his wife Dorrit Elmquist.
He was active and central to Danish and Nordic entertainment for over five decades and is known, among other things, for songs such as “In the Mediterranean the sardine swims”, “What Did You Learn In School Today” and “A simple song about freedom”.
