Page wants to eliminate textbooks in 2025: “Everything will be digitized”

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has a goal for 2025 to eliminate the textbook in educational centers in the region because “everything will be digitized.” This was announced by the regional president, Emiliano García-Page, at the inauguration of the conference ‘Castilla-La Mancha in digital. Digitization and Innovation to boost competitiveness’, organized by Telefónica.

This is one of the three objectives that the head of the regional executive has set together with the implementation of connectivity “of the highest level” in 100% of the territory and “I am aware that the region is very difficult,” he said, in addition to the disappearance of the role of all the procedures of the public Administration, “even if this is with a period of adaptation and with assistance to the groups with more difficulties,” he clarified.

García-Page has asked to “reflect” on the risks of digitization, specifically on security. “Today’s great wars are going to take place between cables or between antennas. It is no joke and you have to invest a lot in cybersecurity. Spain has to take it very seriously and a European cybersecurity space must be built.” And all this, he commented, “without renouncing the face-to-face society” in which people do not stop “looking at each other.”

The Castilian-Manchego president believes that a normal control is necessary in relation to telework in large companies so that “it stays in Spain because, he warned, many of the jobs” can be done from the Philippines “and that” leaves us in a precarious state as a country. ”

Earlier, the president of Telefónica Spain, Emilio Gayo, had intervened at the event, who underlined the company’s commitment to the development of connectivity and digitization in Castilla-La Mancha, according to Europa Press. In this sense, he recalled that Telefónica has invested more than 340 million euros in the region in the last five years, which has allowed, among other achievements, the deployment of fiber for one million homes and that one hundred municipalities can have access to 5G technology.

In this context, he pointed out that Telefónica continues to work with public administrations and startup companies to advance digitization, as well as training with various lines of collaboration with the University of Castilla-La Mancha.

Gayo has highlighted the acceleration of digitization and connectivity processes during the COVID-19 pandemic period, while warning that it is “vital” to prolong this inertia and continue to deploy infrastructures taking advantage of the European Union recovery funds.

However, he added, these “opportunities” entail facing other challenges, such as training workers and SMEs in the digital world, as well as strengthening cybersecurity. Everything, has concluded, to achieve a “sustainable, egalitarian and fair” digitization.

Digitization reaches municipalities via Next Generation-EU funds

For his part, the Councilor for European Funds, Employment and Internal Regime, Francisco Rueda, explained that the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain through the European Funds ‘Next Generation’ will allow the development of a large number of digitization and innovation projects that will be the definitive accolade to a 21st century city.

“In the City Council we are not on the sidelines, in July 2020 we joined the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations and this year we have obtained funding to develop a Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan”, he said.

This Plan, as specified by the municipal manager of European Funds, has a strategic axis of digitization that includes the transformation of the tourist office into a 21st century office, the implementation of a digital platform of services available to visitors. , digital signage and augmented reality to make heritage closer and more visible, in addition to the development of a data analysis platform that facilitates decision-making in both the public and private tourism sectors.

Also, within the same framework of the ‘Next Generation’ Funds, the Toledo City Council has presented projects for the digitization of commerce and the creation of a ‘City Card’, as well as for the digitization of traffic and the control of low-emission zones ; a series of proposals already presented by the City Council awaiting resolution.

Finally, Francisco Rueda has advanced that at the moment “we are preparing a request for European funds for digitization of local entities, and we are going to carry out in 2022 a computer literacy program to overcome the digital divide of certain groups, such as the elderly. , young people without qualifications, long-term unemployed and vulnerable groups, “he said.
