Burglary at Church of Knutange: Stolen Sacred Objects and Ongoing Investigation

It is 10:45 a.m., Wednesday August 30, when the volunteers in charge of the maintenance of the church of Knutange discover with horror that the door of the presbytery has been forced. Broken glass, coming from the French window that opens onto the terrace and the garden, is strewn on the ground. The place of residence has been visited.

The burglars did not hesitate to empty the cupboards and drawers of each of the rooms in the presbytery, forcing the volunteers and the parish priest to carry out a most laborious inventory. Several sacred objects were stolen, some were left in the garden path.

A complaint was filed at the Thionville police station. An investigation has been opened.
