Burger King encourages shopping at McDonald’s – coronavirus hits gastronomy

Burger King encourages customers to buy food at competitive restaurants, including McDonald’s. This is to be a form of support for the catering industry, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The appeal appeared in Polish, but also in other languages.

“Order with McDonald’s” – this is the title of the appeal, which The fast-food chain Burger King posted on Facebook.

“We did not think we would ever ask you for it. We also did not think that we would encourage you to order from KFC, PizzaHut, Starbucks, DaGrasso, Dominos, Dominium, Max Burgers, Pasibus and many other restaurants that cannot be listed here. In short: from every chain (the fast one and the slower one) we know “- we read in the post.

It went on to say: “We didn’t think we would ask you for it, but these restaurants employ thousands of employees who need your support at the moment. If you want to help, don’t hesitate and order yourself something delicious with a fast and safe delivery home or at Drive Thru “.

“We know Whopper is the best option, but ordering a BigMac now seems like a cool option as well,” it wrote, referring to the names of burgers served at Burger King and McDonald’s respectively.

Earlier, the UK branch of Burger King published a similar appeal on Twitter, asking its customers to support other quick service restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A similar entry was also made to Burger King customers in France.

Gastronomy problems in Europe

The catering industry is currently experiencing difficult times in Europe. On October 24, they entered into force in Poland restrictions for the catering industry. Stationary activities were forbidden – only take-away and delivery services were left. The restrictions will apply for two weeks, but may also be extended if the number of coronavirus infections does not decrease.

This Thursday, a nationwide lockdown will begin in England, which will last until December 2 – incl. all pubs, bars and restaurants will be closed, although they will still be able to operate in the take-away and delivery system.
