Bundesliga: Referee change of power! Who should inherit Brych and Gräfe – FOOTBALL

It’s the summer of his life. Referee Daniel Siebert (37) was allowed to whistle three games at the European Championship, including the round of 16 Wales against Denmark (0: 4). In addition, the Berliner became a father for the first time during the tournament – so things can hardly go any better.

Seventh’s EM nomination was a big surprise, because Felix Zwayer (40) and Tobias Stieler (40) are clearly in front of him in the internal FIFA rating for referees. But Siebert had, in contrast to Zwayer and Stieler, convinced with top performances in the months before the EM.

Germany’s number 1 Felix Brych (46 / whistled five European Championship games – record!) Announced his retirement from the international stage immediately after the tournament. Siebert is now officially the new German top referee. And the trained teacher does not want to give up this place anymore: “I see myself in pole position. Of course I want to defend them! “

Seventh new goal: the World Cup in Qatar next year. In any case, he no longer needs to be afraid of Zwayer and Stieler – after they have been removed from the European Championship, they no longer play a role internationally.

And yet Siebert has to be careful! Because when the referees change power, he is no longer the hunter, but the hunted – and another German referee is pushing his way onto the international stage.

According to SPORT BILD information, the DFB will award Brych’s free Fifa spot to Sven Jablonski (31) next month! In the referee scene, the man from Bremen is considered an absolute exceptional talent, as a “rocket on the pipe”.

The banker made his Bundesliga debut when he was only 27 years old. Jablonski’s style is often compared to that of Manuel Gräfe (47), who just had to end his career due to the age limit: He is calm on the pitch, brings all the games unobtrusively to the stage and does not focus on himself. Jablonski is therefore incredibly popular with players and coaches.

Even cult trainer Friedhelm Funkel (67), who usually had problems with pretty much all referees, raves: “Jablonski is more than just a young talent, he is already a seasoned referee at a young age. He is a natural authority and totally sovereign. I think it’s good that he allows coaches and players to say something and also utters sayings himself. “

Jablonski is to become the new Brych – initially as his direct successor on the Fifa list. But the hope at the DFB is that it will immediately take off internationally. He himself remains relaxed: “I would be happy about the next step, but of course the decision will be made by the referee management.”

SPORT BILD knows: Brych has spoken out in favor of Jablonski as his successor. How is it going on with himself? Brych will continue to be seen nationally. He says: “I’m in top shape, I really want to go to the Bundesliga.”

For two more seasons he should still whistle in terms of age regulations. But whether he will really be on the pitch that long is questionable.

Because it is THE whispering topic among the referees: Will Brych finally give up his pipe at the end of the season or even during the winter break and replace Lutz Fröhlich (63) as referee chief? Brych is not (yet) looking into his cards: “What’s after my active career – I have no idea. That is still in the stars. “

But one thing is clear: with the exceptional talent Jablonski as the new Fifa referee and EM driver Siebert, as a new boss after the successful era of Gräfe and Brych, he would not have to worry about quality.
