Two promoted teams start with home games on Matchday 1: VfL Osnabrück welcomes Karlsruher SC, while SV Wehen Wiesbaden hosts 1. FC Magdeburg – both games take place on Saturday, July 29, at 1:00 p.m. The third promoted team, SV Elversberg, starts the season at the same time with an away game at Hannover 96, while Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hertha BSC play the evening game on the same day (8:30 p.m.). A week later, on Saturday, August 5 (8:30 p.m.), the traditional game between FC Schalke 04 and 1. FC Kaiserslautern will take place. On Sunday, August 6 (1:30 p.m.), the duel between 1. FC Nürnberg and Hannover 96 will kick off.
All Bundesliga 2 games are broadcast live on Sky. The matches on Saturday evening can also be seen live on free TV on SPORT1. The opening game between Hamburger SV and FC Schalke 04 will also be broadcast live on free TV on SAT.1.
On the first match day of the 2nd Bundesliga, only one game will take place on Friday, July 28 (two as usual from the second match day), but a total of five (instead of four) matches will be played on Saturday, July 29.
The next exact times for the Bundesliga (matchdays 1 to 8) and Bundesliga 2 (matchdays 3 to 10) are expected to take place in the coming week (July 10th to 14th).
