Bulgaria’s Refugee Crisis: Tihomir Bezlov Reveals Challenges and Controversies

“There have probably been several charter flights with refugees since the beginning of the year, which might be good to report. Even if they return thousands to us, which is impossible, they don’t want to stay in Bulgaria. The main problem is that the returned there is no way to find them in our country anymore”.

This is what he said in “Denyat live” on NEW NEWS Tihomir Bezlov from the Center for the Study of Democracy.

Ninova to the rulers: Instead of rotation – “dismantle”

“For the Dublin Agreement, it does not matter whether Bulgaria is a member of Schengen. Refugees were returned to us last year as well – over 100 people. Over the years, between 100 and 200 people have been returned from Western countries. The big problem with the regulation is that it is very limited. There are about 5000 people in Austria with Bulgarian biometrics – registered here to get asylum. The authorities can’t collect them, they don’t know where they are. At the moment these people are not in prison, they leave the country as soon as there is a problem. There is no mechanism to help of the Dublin Pact to be respected,” Bezlov stressed.

Bulgaria will not accept 6,000 refugees coming from Austria

He added that there is an agreement for Bulgaria to control the import of inflatable boats for migrants, which are risky for Britain.

“13 are the migrants returned yesterday. They are not even escorted, they are told to go to DAB to be accommodated. Our refugee centers are open type, so they leave within days of their detention. Average length of stay they have between 4 and 10 days. There is no way they can be detained by force, they have not committed a crime. When a migrant illegally crosses the Bulgarian border again, then he has already committed a crime,” explained Bezlov.
