Details: By their decision, Bulgarian deputies ratified agreements between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the “free provision of armored vehicles.”

The decision was supported by 152 deputies from the coalition parties – GERB-SDS, “Continuing Change – Democratic Bulgaria”, as well as the “Movement for Rights and Freedoms” and the party “There are such people”. Socialists and representatives of the pro-Russian Revival party were against it.

Background:

There was an agreement concluded back in July this year, in August it was signed in Sofia, and on November 13 – in Ukraine. Since it concerns military-technical cooperation, it had to be additionally ratified by the Bulgarian Parliament. At the same time, the signing of the agreement took place with the caveat that even before ratification it began to be applied on a temporary basis. Therefore, earlier in Bulgaria they said that the transfer of armored personnel carriers to Ukraine will start in September-October. As previously reported, the armored personnel carrier were in warehouse Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs since the 1980s. This is the first time that the Bulgarian side transfers armored equipment to Kyiv directly, and not through intermediaries, as it did before.
