Israel opens restaurants and bars for those vaccinated against COVID-19

The government of Israel has decided to ease further restrictive measures because of the coronavirus, informs DPA.

Restaurants, cafes and pubs will be able to open their doors today under certain conditions, announced the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Among other things, only customers with a “green passport” can be served indoors. Unvaccinated clients can only sit outdoors.

Students with green passports will also be eligible to return to their universities from today. Unvaccinated students will still only be able to study online.

Holders of green passports – people who have recovered from COVID-19 and people whose second vaccination against it was at least a week ago – restore fundamental rights and freedoms in Israel earlier of those who have not been vaccinated.

The rules of distance and hygiene still apply to all citizens of Israel.

The vaccination campaign in Israel is one of the fastest in the world. In the country with a population of just over 9 million people more than 4.9 million people have received the first dose so far vaccine, and about 3.7 million people received the second dose.

Israel is putting the names of the unvaccinated on the “wall of shame.”
