Brother sees connection between death and damned interview Princess Diana: ‘She could still have been alive’ | Royals

entertainment">The accusation of Charles Spencer, the ninth Earl Spencer, comes on the day that an independent investigation shows that Princess Diana was misled in the conclusion of the interview. Martin Bashir, the interviewer himself, has forged documents to get in touch with Diana.

entertainment">In an initial conversation with Diana, which was also attended by her brother Charles, Bashir appears to have spread numerous lies about wiretapping and involvement of the British secret service. Charles Spencer made it clear at the time that he was not impressed by the conversation. To his surprise, however, Diana chose to maintain ties with Bashir and his interview team.

entertainment">Charles Spencer tells in an episode of the BBC program Panorama – where the original interview was also broadcast – that he was approached by Bashir on August 31, 18995. That was, Spencer notes, exactly two years before the death of his sister Diana in a car accident in Paris.

Destructive investigation

entertainment">The investigation of John Dyson, one of the most renowned judges in England, is devastating for the BBC. Not only is Bashir accused of deception and mendacity, the broadcaster’s leadership has since made no serious attempt to seriously investigate the doubts that existed about the interview from the outset. That changed at the end of last year, after various media started a new investigation around the 25th anniversary of the interview. Charles Spencer was one of the drivers behind the reopening of an investigation. Among other things, he had detailed notes of the first meeting between Bashir and Diana.

entertainment">Dyson’s investigation lends all credit to Charles Spencer. According to Dyson, he has proved himself a reliable witness. The opposite is true of Bashir, who Dyson says is a liar.

entertainment">Current BBC director Tim Davie fully accepts the conclusions of the investigation. He has apologized personally to Charles Spencer, as well as Prince Charles and Princes William and Harry.
