Brooklyn park puts New Yorkers in circles for safe sunbathing

Is this an idea from which France should be inspired? As explained Business Insider, New York authorities were inspired to allow residents to sunbathe in peace at Domino Park. Huge white circles have been drawn on the ground, in order to enforce social distancing. These circles, spaced 1m80 apart, are large enough to “hold” three or four people in a seated position, as can be seen in the pictures circulating on social networks. Others, however, prefer to lie down alone or do exercises.

While the containment measures were lightened last week in New York before a total deconfinement scheduled for June 13, the Domino Park, located in Brooklyn facing the East River, was taken by storm. It is not specified how many people are “allowed” to group together in the circles. Or how long this measure will be in place, or if circles are going to be painted in other parks in New York in the days or months to come. Police officers are present around the park to call to order people who do not respect barrier gestures.

They also distribute masks to people who ask for them, even though many New Yorkers are already “equipped”. What perhaps inspire Anne Hidalgo, who hopes to be able to reopen the parks of Paris soon, these being still closed to the public despite the deconfinement. Valérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France region, also declared herself in favor of these reopenings on BFMTV, as spotted by the Huffington Post, “Provided there are more controls” by the police.
