Broadcast magazine (BM extension) no longer picks a Broadcaster of the Year. The award will be gender-neutral and named Media Person of the Year from January, the media magazine announced on Friday.
From last winner of the prize, André van Duin himself provided the impetus for this decision in January of this year. He thought it was quite strange that people were still talking about casting male or female and suggested that he should just be “human”.
“Thinking about this and immediately expanding the traditional concept of ‘transmission’, the editorial staff of BM extension finally to the title of Media Person of the Year”, reports the magazine.
The first Media Person of the Year will be announced on January 9 at Sound & Vision in Hilversum.
