British intelligence: Russian aviation ineffective

The British intelligence daily report comments on the latest developments in Ukraine, as quoted by the BBC’s Russian service.

In Donbas, Russian troops and formations of the pro-Russian self-proclaimed People’s Republic of China claim to have entered the suburbs of the city of Seversk. This has not been confirmed. but Russian forces slowly advanced westward after shelling and tentative attacks on Seversk from Lisichansk. The goal is to open a passage to Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. Bakhmut is likely to be the Russians’ next target, if they manage to capture Seversk. Earlier, information appeared from the Russian side that Ukrainian troops were ordered to withdraw from the citybut this information has no independent confirmation.

After the Russian troops were forced to leave the strategically located Snake Island in the Black Sea on June 30, 2022, Russia denies that it is again under Ukrainian control. However, on July 13, 2022, two Russian Su-27 fighter jets failed to hit the island. This once again proves the ineffectiveness of Russian aviation in a tactical war.

More than 2.5 million people have been taken from Ukraine in Russia since the beginning of the invasion. Russia is accused of forcible deportation of Ukrainiansin many cases they were brutally treated in Russian infiltration camps, according to British intelligence.

The Russian army is advancing towards Slavyansk in the Donetsk region and is trying to advance towards Bakhmut, as well as regroup for an advance towards Seversk, the Ukrainian General Staff said in its traditional morning briefing on the 142nd day of the war.

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian military is trying to hold the occupied areas and prevent the advance of Ukrainian troops towards the state border.
