Passengers traveling to the UK will now have to undergo a coronavirus test before leaving, announced the British government, quoted by the BBC.
Health Minister Sajid Javid says stricter requirements will take effect in Tuesday. All visitors 12 years of age and older will be required to take the test no more than 48 hours before departure. Until now, the rule was that people should isolate themselves until they received a negative test within two days of arrival.
From Monday Nigeria will be added to the red list of countries whose arrivals must be quarantined in a hotel for 10 days, Javid confirmed. In recent days, 21 cases of the new variant of the coronavirus Omicron in the UK have been linked to travel from Nigeria.
