Pernille Harder scores a hat trick for Chelsea

Emma Hayes saw her side defeat West Ham United with a flattering 6-0 victory, thanks to a hat-trick from Pernille Harder and a goal from Sophie Ingle, Bethany England and Fran Kirby.

The Blues took just four minutes to break the deadlock as Harder hooked the ball deep from Ji So-yun and produced a cool finish past Mackenzie Arnold in the West Ham goal.

Ingle then fired in a long-range effort to double his advantage with 15 minutes on the clock, before Harder capitalized on an Arnold mistake to score his second and Chelsea’s third goal ten minutes later.

England killed all slim hopes of a West Ham return when they first shot Kirby’s cross to add a fourth goal with just 27 minutes played.

West Londoners got a fifth when Kirby scored on the rebound after his initial effort was saved in the 77th minute, before finishing their night shift four minutes to go thanks to Harder’s low strike.

Back-to-back wins for Bristol City

Meanwhile, Bristol City capped a four-day fine with a 1-0 win over Leicester City, thanks to City’s first goal for Kiera Skeels. The goal came in the 71st minute to beat the leaders of the women’s championship.

The result follows City’s 3-0 victory over struggling FA Women’s Super League compatriots Brighton & Hove Albion on January 30.

Chelsea are heading to the final as big favorites against City, having broken a record 33 games unbeaten in the FA Women’s Super League. It’s also the first time the Vixens have reached this stage of the competition.

Both clubs look to the league again on February 7 – Chelsea host Brighton, while Bristol City face West Ham in a big bottom-of-the-table clash.
