Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito were on a trip to the US when the young woman disappeared.

The FBI confirmed this Thursday that the human remains found in a Florida natural park correspond to Brian Laundrie, the boyfriend of blogger Gabby Petito, who was strangled to death during a trip he was taking with his partner.

The human remains that correspond to a skeleton were found Wednesday along with various belongings of Brian Laundrie, such as clothes, a backpack and a notebook.

“On October 21, 2021, a comparison of dental records confirmed that the human remains found (…) are those of Brian Laundrie, “reads a message on Twitter from the FBI office in Tampa, Florida.

After learning of Petito’s disappearance in September, Laundrie had entered the Myakkahatchee Creek Natural Park, in northeast Florida, where his remains were finally found.

Laundrie, 23, was considered a “person of interest” in the death of his fiancée, but he had not been charged with her death; the place where her body was found had been underwater until recently, according to the FBI.

The remains of Gabby Petito were found on September 19 in the state of Wyoming, in the northwestern United States.

A team has searched for Brian Laundrie in northwest Florida.

A week ago a Wyoming coroner ruled that 22-year-old Petito had been strangled to death and her body abandoned for weeks.

An attorney representing Laundrie’s parents issued a statement Thursday saying: “Chris and Roberta Laundrie have been informed that the remains found yesterday in the reservation are indeed Brian’s.”

“We have no further comment at this time and we ask you to respect privacy from the Laundrie right now. “

The van ride
Petito and Laundrie took a road trip this year through national parks in the western United States.

They shared their “van life” on social media.

Laundrie’s parents say they saw a Brian for the last time on September 13, two weeks after he returned to Florida without Petito.

After his return home, the young man went on an excursion unaccompanied and never returned.

The car driven by Laundrie after her disappearance was also found in the same Myakkahatchee Creek park.

Laundrie has not been charged with crimes related to Petito’s death, however, the FBI issued a warrant and accused him of fraudulently using his girlfriend’s debit card.
