Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald: State promotes broadband expansion in the region – Mielich, Pix and Sitzmann MPs for the Greens, see 1.7 million euros for fast Internet in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district well spent

The Broadband Association of the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district will receive around 1,743,000 euros from the state for broadband expansion. The state parliament members Bärbl Mielich, Reinhold Pix and Edith Sitzmann (all GREENS) see the money well invested.

The funding measure is part of the state’s broadband funding program. “Fast and comprehensive broadband networks are the prerequisite for new business ideas, economic growth and social development,” said Pix. The country will provide more than one billion euros for broadband expansion by 2021.

“I am pleased that the district is receiving such clear support for the expansion of the fast Internet and that many citizens benefit from a powerful line,” says Bärbl Mielich.

Reinhold Pix adds: “Through the cooperation between the district and the state, we are creating an infrastructure for the digital future from which citizens, companies and public institutions benefit”.

“Despite the great challenges of the corona pandemic for Baden-Württemberg, the promotion of fast Internet is still at a record level,” says Edith Sitzmann.

Across the country, 64 broadband funding notices for 44 million euros were handed out. 42 projects in 20 districts benefit from the funding. In the current supplementary budget, the green-led state government has provided a further 100 million euros for broadband expansion.
