Break! ‘Alleged shooter Bas van Wijk is known from the police’ – De Dagaily Standaard

Well-imported sources of the Telegraph believe that the man suspected of the murder of Bas van Wijk is an acquaintance of the police. It would be a Dutch man with Moroccan roots, reports De Telegraaf. The lawyer who assists another suspect is not happy with the Public Prosecution Service, which, according to him, simply releases this information.

The OM announced today that a firearm and a watch have been found that are included in the investigation. Lawyer Van Vliet, lawyer for one of the three suspects, is not satisfied with the Public Prosecution Service.

“The Public Prosecution Service should never have released the information about the weapon and watch found”

The lawyer believes that the Public Prosecution should simply adhere to the rules. The burden is of course considerable in this case, but the Public Prosecution Service must still adhere to the applicable rules. And that doesn’t happen, according to Van Vliet.

“I understand that this matter is very sensitive. It is also terrible how Bas van Wijk was shot ”, continues the Amsterdam criminal lawyer. But noblesse oblige. Nobility obliges. As a government agency, the Public Prosecution Service must adhere to the rules. Information was already released when suspects were still under restraint. We as lawyers must also obey the rules. ”

The lawyer talks about unacceptable scenes, and he makes a point there. He would not hear a lot of information through the Public Prosecution Service but through the media. And that’s not how it should be.

“To top it all off, when we arrived at the arraignment last Friday, there were no statements from co-suspects in the file. While we as lawyers knew from the media that there were. I was therefore not allowed to share that information with my client. That is an unworkable situation. ”
