Brazil wants to introduce Bitcoin as legal tender

  • Brazil is preparing to introduce Bitcoin as legal tender.
  • The bill to regulate Bitcoin will be presented to the Chamber’s plenary in a few days.

The debate about a digital asset adoption in Brazil started a few years ago. Today the Brazilian government is about to finalize its plans with the help of the central bank. Brazil MP Aurero Ribeiro stated in an interview that Brazilians will soon be able to buy houses, cars and even McDonald’s Bitcoin after his law is passed. According to him, that will happen soon.

Specifically, the Commission recently met and voted in favor of the opinion. After that, the bill now goes to the next stage, the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies. The Brazilian MP also stressed that he was satisfied with the passage of the Bitcoin law. For him, that will help stop the cryptocurrency pyramids that are imminent.

Aureo again insisted that the Brazilian market is sustainable. He explained that moving is an innovative and sustainable sector that is already working all over the world. He believes crypto will stay here.

We want to separate the wheat from the chaff, create regulations so you can trade, know where to shop, know who you are dealing with, and have that asset to buy a house, a car …… It will be one Currency in the country as it happens in other countries

The Congressman took his point further, stating that Bitcoin valuation outperforms any return on listed assets. He went on to compare BTC investments in dollars and gold.

Bitcoin in particular will most likely be introduced as legal tender in Brazil before the end of 2021. This shows Brazil’s strategy of becoming a benchmark for new foreign investment.
