The Brazilian Government announced this Saturday, June 27, an agreement that will allow it to acquire 100 million doses of the vaccine against the new coronavirus that has been undergoing experimentation by the University of Oxford, as well as subsequently produce it in the country thanks to the transfer of technology.
“The agreement provides for the purchase of three batches of the vaccine, the first of which will arrive next December, as well as the transfer of technology so that we can produce it in the laboratories of the state-owned Fiocruz,” announced the Deputy Minister of Health, Elcio Franco , at a press conference.
According to scientists from the WorldHealth Organization (WHO), the vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and the pharmaceutical AstraZeneca, which is already being tested in humans, even in Brazil, is the most advanced in the world in terms of development.
