With almost 20 years of experience in the logistics sector, Carolina Merkle Brown was hired as the new executive manager focused on Shipowners by TCP, the company that manages the Paranaguá Container Terminal, in Brazil.

As main mission, the executive -who will occupy the position of commercial manager of Shipowners- should contribute to the consolidation of image and positioning due to changes in the culture and strategy of the company, adjustments that occurred after the acquisition made by CMPort, in 2018.

“TCP it is a differentiated terminal that has enormous potential to achieve your goals quickly. We outlined several strategies and objectives to further strengthen the relationship with the shipowners, in order to develop logistics projects integrating all the services in our portfolio, and to bring in new lines, increasing our market share ”, said Merkle.

The manager, who has been on the other side of the table, working with the shipowners, added that she has always maintained a close relationship with the Terminal, developing joint ventures and projects. “I witnessed a great cultural change and in the strategy of TCP, which was very positive and I always had a huge identification and admiration for the work developed by Thomas Lima, Institutional and Commercial Director of the Terminal”, He explained.

Lima, for his part, he delved into the challenges he will have Merkle. “We restructured our commercial area in order to look more sensitively at shipowners. With a long-term vision, focus on clients and relationships that generate mutual benefits, Carolina arrives at an opportune moment to add her knowledge, ”says the executive.

In a predominantly male sector, being a woman made Merkle fight for the same conditions as her peers.

“I realized the prejudice of some people, including other women, and understood the need to show that I was there because of my competence,” says the new manager. In this way, Thomas Lima, reinforces that the company’s policy is one of inclusion and diversity. “TCP is a pioneer in promoting diversity. In the last two decades, the female presence has grown almost 20 times, with women occupying positions at all levels ”, she expressed.
