Brazil reports 52 thousand 544 cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours – World

Sao Paulo. Brazil, the second country in the world in deaths from the new coronavirus pandemic behind the United States, accumulated 185,650 deaths from Covid-19, registering 823 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health reported today.

According to the health portfolio, 52 thousand 544 infected were counted in 24 hours, which raised the number of positive cases to seven million 162 thousand 978 since the start of the pandemic in Brazil, on February 26.

Those recovered total six million 198 thousand 185, while the federal government published a resolution in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) that indicates that as of December 30, both Brazilians and foreigners who enter the country through the airports must present a negative PCR test for Covid-19, meanwhile the land and water border crossings will remain closed.

Meanwhile, local authorities across the country are suspending end-of-year parties to avoid crowds, as announced today by the tourist city of Fortaleza, capital of the state of Ceará (northeast).

In the Judiciary, around the Buzios spa, in the state of Rio de Janeiro (southeast), debates are taking place on how to prevent the movement of people.

A second instance judge, Claudio Tavares, today annulled the precautionary measure of a first instance magistrate that forced tourists from the tourist town of Buziosa to leave their accommodations within 72 hours, because he considered that a total closure was necessary to avoid contagion .

The initial measure was appealed by the mayor of Buzios, one of the main tourist centers in Brazil.
