Addiction is the focus of the eponymous series of topics in ARD-alpha. From October 12th to 15th and from October 19th to 22nd at 9 p.m., addictive behavior, dealing with addiction and drugs will be explained in the documentaries.

“Germany on Drugs – The Addiction to Medicine” is about the careless handling of highly effective drugs. Because Valium, Tavor and Co. – used for anxiety and insomnia – are celebrated as miracle cures. But: They are quickly addictive. Around 1.4 million Germans are dependent, many on prescription. What is the prescription practice for these drugs? Is there enough information about the potential for addiction? The film explores these questions and tells the ordeal of people whose lives were thrown out of joint due to the pill addiction.

Because it wasn’t long ago that you got into trouble with the police if you were caught with marijuana in your pocket in the tranquil US state of Colorado. But that was once upon a time: Since marijuana has been legally grown, sold and consumed in Colorado, there has been a gold rush in cowboy state.
