Boys’ Day 2024: Companies called upon to participate

For the next Boys’ Day on April 25, 2024, the organizers are calling on companies and institutions to participate. The nationwide coordination office announced on Wednesday in Bielefeld that they are looking for companies and institutions that can offer day internships in the social sector. The Boys’ Future Day for students from grade 5 onwards is intended to provide insight into training, study programs and professions in which only a few men have previously worked. The motto for 2024 is “Now you come!”.

Interested employers from the areas of health, care, social affairs, education, education and services can now register on the website www.boys-day.de. Through their involvement in the day of action, they could give young males the opportunity to get a taste of professional fields that go beyond “gender clichés”. Women are therefore still overrepresented in social professions, while men are overrepresented in many technical and skilled trades.

“Boys’ Day” takes place on April 25th at the same time as “Girls’ Day”, which is intended to inspire school students for MINT careers in the areas of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. Children who don’t see themselves as girls or boys can take part in the day of action and decide individually on a career, it said. Trans boys are also welcome at “Boys’ Day”.

The action days are supported by the Federal Ministries of Education and Youth as well as alliance partners from industry, trade, crafts and social sectors. “Girls’ Day” was offered for the first time in 2001, and “Boys’ Day” was added ten years later. Since then, according to the organizers, more than 2.25 million places have been available for schoolgirls as part of the Girls’ Future Day. A total of more than 370,000 boys have taken part in “Boys’ Day” so far.
